QUESTION OF THE WEEK: Culture
(Each "Question of the Week," an idea which I gleaned from A Republic If You Can Keep It, will remain toward the top of the blog until the next question appears. The previous Questions of the Week are HERE. Please scroll down for recent postings)
Newsweek runs a feature entitled "A Life in Books," in which various prominent individuals list the five books which most influenced their lives, often with two other options to provide at the end, such as "the book you cared most about sharing with your kids" and "a certified important book you haven't read."
---------------------------------------
By way of examples, Harold Bloom's choices are here, and James Patterson's are here. You can view others' choices on the right sidebar of either of the two above links. Those polled also gave a brief explanation as to why they chose each book.
QUESTION OF THE WEEK, in three parts: (1) What would you list as your five (or fewer) books if interviewed for "A Life in Books"? (2) What book would you most like for your children to read or to have read? (3) What certified-important book have you not read?
I'll provide my list in a few days.
