Lee said he experienced an ‘‘awakening” when he watched former Vice President Al Gore’s environmental documentary ‘‘An Inconvenient Truth.”

Gore awakened Lee, and Daniel Quinn's works were apparently the basis of Lee's activism.

Here we go again, the administration is planning to establish a new government agency, one that will answer to the president, to report on what Gary Locke the secretary of commerce has already said, "that climate change is a real threat". We all know that the climate is changing, its been changing since the beginning of time, before man walked the earth, before the first microbes swam in the seas. This is just another effort on the part of government to control the message and try and get ahead of the firestorm causes by climategate. These global warming fanatics are grasping at straws in what will turn out to be a vain attempt to sway public opinion again. Those who believe in global warming will not go quietly into the night, moves such as this show their desperation and perhaps the dying quiver of their once popular movement.

The pathetically unprophetic Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. wrote a column last year in which he bemoaned global warming and suggested that children of the future might never see snow again.

Another 8-12 inches of snow expected here in the D.C. area tomorrow. Heh.

Those Classroom Walls

As a taxpayer, whether or not you have children, you can enter the classrooms of the public schools. You may have to jump through some hoops to do so, but you can visit.

According to Glenn Beck, the following poster was on the walls of one public-school classroom (with thanks to Brooke):


Early indoctrination in global warming and the concept of the world community.

The second-grade classroom also displayed the newest book about BHO's dog. Well, at least there wasn't an altar to the Church of Obama present.

By the way, as a taxpayer in any school district, you have the right to review the textbooks being used. Caution: Many materials used in the classroom are not on the official list of curricula. Many of those materials never make their way to the students' bookbags because of school regulations.

As long as I'm posting about education, I call your attention to this information over at Gateway Pundit: "Dear Leader to Address Youth On Community Life & Sharing." Excerpt from that posting:

Saudi Contradictions

Excerpt from this article in the November 18, 2007 edition of the Washington Post:

...For the past four days, OPEC and Saudi officials have been trying to portray the oil cartel almost as a public service organization, scrutinizing figures on consumption and production to find a balance that would moderate wild swings in prices for the benefit of consumers and producers alike.

"We are not using the oil we are selling to the world as a political weapon," OPEC Secretary General Abdullah al-Badri said this week. "We have not used [it] in the past, nor will we use it in the future." ...

Really? Can the general be serious? The oil magnates of OPEC do not sell oil out the collective goodness of their hearts. After all, the House of Saud isn't exactly known for a spartan existence:

The meeting was held in an ornate royal conference center, with Corinthian columns and carved archways worthy of ancient Rome or the Venetian doges. The OPEC leaders were led to a room with 11 giant crystal chandeliers, marble floors, 20-foot doors of inlaid wood and gold trim, cavernous ceilings with carved patterns painted powder blue, eggshell white and pink, and enough cushy seats for 2,000 people.

All fully paid for, no doubt.

The article ends with what might be deemed a veiled threat:

Abdullah warned global warming activists and lawmakers against targeting oil use. "The echoes repeated here and there about the effect of petroleum on the environment is a discourse laced with . . . fallacies," he said.

Environmental concerns have come up repeatedly this week because OPEC officials worry that new taxes or cap-and-trade programs for greenhouse gases could add to the cost of petroleum products and put a dent in demand for oil. Earlier in the week, Saudi Oil Minister Ali al-Naimi said that "we do not like policies that discriminate against petroleum or fossil fuels in general."

Contradiction alert! According to the Saudis, the marketing of oil isn't political.

And, Al Gore, take notice. You've been called a liar, and the Saudis worry that your global-warming agenda could dent their bank accounts.
