Nancy Pelosi's Priorities

How can ANYONE have any respect whatsoever for Nancy Pelosi, Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives? She refuses to debate her opponent because "Time is money":

Pelosi's obvious priority is trying to hang onto her salary. Heh.

Is it any wonder that some Democrats are now campaigning against Moonbat Pelosi?

Well, they supported her earlier in the game, when they apparently believed that the Democratic Party had been elected to power for perpetuity and disregard the will of people time after time since the 2008 National Election.

Vote 'em out on November 2.

Obama's Phony Townhall Meeting

Not only is Obama teleprompter-dependent. He has to pack the audience with screened and scripted actors. Pathetic.

From The Blogmocracy, citing Human Events:
Actors Called to Play ‘Young People’ at Obama Town Hall

The set is beautiful, the lighting perfect. The President is ready for his close-up at the taping of the MTV, BET, CMT town hall to mobilize the ‘Youth Vote’ for the November election. Called a “Conversation with President Obama,” the town hall will include 250 young people. Leaving nothing to chance, the ‘Youth’ asking questions will be actors.

On behalf of the President, casting website Backstage.com put out a casting call for “males and females 18+” to fill out a questionnaire to include “your name, phone number, hometown, school attending, your job and what issues, if any, you are interested in, or passionate about. Also provide a recent photo and short description of your political views.” This job will be strictly for exposure; there will be no pay. Wonder if SAG condones this union-friendly President getting actors to work for free.

The casting call for the “Conversation with President Obama” was sandwiched between “Bachelors for Dating Show” and “Landau Music, Cruise Ship Musicians”.
Commentary from The Blogmocracy:
They had to submit their questions at the audition so Obungler would know what they were going to ask and how to answer them, and they also had to state their political views, proving, yet again, that the dolt cannot do anything if it isn’t scripted or can’t be read off a TelePrompTer.
Obama - What a failure!

Harvard should be hiding under a rock, with a graduate such as Obama included in the school's alumni.

Obama's Repeated Vacations

Hat tip to Will, at whose site I found the following graphic:

And 2010 hasn't yet ended.

How many vacations do the Obamas need? Sheesh.

Well, at least while Obama is on vacation, perhaps we won't have to hear from him as Scolder-In-Chief. I, for one, am getting mighty weary of the tone he often uses when he speaks. He is supposed to be our elected public servant.

Now, about our national debt (also from Will's site):

Obama's Professed Empathy

(With a hat tip to Z! for the link below)

Does anyone really believe this nonsense?

Obama said...that he and his wife Michelle were not far removed from financial pressures facing Americans.

"Not far removed from financial pressures?" Talk about a laughable statement worthy of ridicule!

Reality check:
The Obamas reported an adjusted gross income of 5.5 million dollars in 2009...
The Obama administration - out of touch and striking a hollow note with pretended empathy.

Desperation in the face of the coming elections this November?

Obama: Mandatory Health Insurance Wasn't A Tax, But Now It Is

Yet another example of the Obama's administration's CHANGE!

From Ace of Spades, citing the New York Times (July 16, 2010):
...In a brief defending ["minimal essential coverage"], the Justice Department says the requirement for people to carry insurance or pay the penalty is “a valid exercise” of Congress’s power to impose taxes.
Return for a minute to these exact words from Obama, back in September 2009 when he was pushing for health-care reform:
"For us to say you have to take responsibility to get health insurance is absolutely not a tax increase."
We shouldn't be surprised. After all, the electorate did vote for change. That change apparently includes changing semantics too.

America, you've been had, bad, by the scam known as Barack Hussein Obama.

Oh, really?

Hat tip to Mike's America for the video below the fold:

The truth: We taxpayers aren't resting. Instead, we're laboring to pay the taxes funding all of BHO's programs and entitlements. Furthermore, as the post below illustrates, the BHO administration is prone to lying whenever lying suits them.

White House Backtracks On Muslim Outreach

The White House's backtracking wasn't on all Muslim outreach, however. Rather, the backpedaling was specific to one issue which caused a bit of a firestorm last week.

From Fox News on July 12, 2010:

Muslim Outreach Not the Job of NASA, White House Says

White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs said Monday [July 12] that NASA Administrator Charles Bolden must have misspoken when he told Al Jazeera last month that one of his top priorities is to reach out to Muslim countries.

"That was not his task and that's not the task of NASA," Gibbs said.

[...]

The Muslim comments were met with a wall of criticism last week from conservatives and former NASA officials who said that while Muslim-nation outreach is laudable, it should not be a NASA priority.

Bolden said in the interview that Obama told him before he took the job that he wanted him to do three things: inspire children to learn math and science, expand international relationships and "perhaps foremost, he wanted me to find a way to reach out to the Muslim world and engage much more with dominantly Muslim nations to help them feel good about their historic contribution to science ... and math and engineering."
Less than a week ago,
...Officials from the White House and NASA on Tuesday [July 6] stood by Bolden's statement that part of his mission is to improve relations with Muslim countries....
Whom do you believe: NASA Administrator Charles Bolden or White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs?

And how much of Gibbs's second statement is related to the upcoming November 2010 election, an election that doesn't look particularly good for the Democratic Party?

Meanwhile, the Obama administration is
now openly flouting [a] Federal Appeals court ruling.
Read about this disregard for the rule of law HERE.

CNN Editor Fired

Even a stopped clock is right twice a day.

From Infidel Bloggers Alliance:
Mediaite reports that CNN has fired senior editor of Middle East affairs Octavia Nasr. As Daniel Halper pointed out the other day, Nasr wrote on Twitter on July 4 that she was "sad" to hear of the death of Hezbollah's Sayyed Mohammad Hussein Fadlallah--a man for whom she has "respect." Fadlallah had justified suicide bombings, is believed to be responsible for the Marine barracks bombing, and had said that "Zionism has inflated the number of victims in this Holocaust beyond imagination."
Ms. Nasr apologized. Somewhat:
It was an error of judgment for me to write such a simplistic comment and I'm sorry because it conveyed that I supported Fadlallah's life's work. That's not the case at all....
Read the rest of her "apology" HERE.

Of course, the left decries Ms. Nasr's dismissal and casts blame anywhere but on her:
And so, once again, the neocons have managed to help make us all a little bit dumber....

So here’s the neocon logic: When a reporter acknowledges the passing of a revered, if controversial figure in a way that doesn’t sufficiently convey what a completely evil terrorist neocons think that figure was — that’s unacceptable....
How is it possible that neocons have so much influence on CNN as to get a senior editor fired?

One of the comments at the above-cited Think Progress link is quite amusing (spew alert):
CNN...should be embarrassed that they let politics dictate their reporting.
LOL!

Bill Clinton's Ideological Mistake (With Not-To-Be-Missed Addendum)

Did anyone else catch this fundamental error, an error running completely contrary to our Founding principles?

Excerpt from "Bill you are confusing an administration with America":
Former President Bill Clinton warned of a slippery slope from angry anti-government rhetoric to violence like the 1995 Oklahoma City bombing, saying "the words we use really do matter."

The two-term Democratic president insisted he wasn't trying to restrict free speech, but in remarks Friday he said incendiary language can be taken the wrong way by some Americans. He drew parallels to words demonizing the government before Oklahoma City.

...[T]he people are the nation, NOT the government....If the government takes steps in law that a substantial portion of the nation feels damages the core purpose of the nation..., then troubles ensue.

...[T]his is just another DESPERATE, DESPERATE attempt to marginalize the people....
Equating in any sense the Tea Parties with Timothy McVeigh is so far over the top as to beggar belief. In essence, Bill Clinton is telling the Tea Partiers, "Shut up! Don't dissent because dissension is dangerous and leads to terrorism. Submit to the will of the government."

America has never stood for the principle that dissent is dangerous in and of itself. If it were, we wouldn't have opposing candidates on our ballots.

ADDENDUM

With thanks to Beamish:

With all that screeching, let's be sure that Hillary Clinton's words are clear:
I'm sick and tired of people who say that if you debate and disagree with this administration, somehow you're not patriotic. We need to stand up and say we're Americans, and we have the right to debate and disagree with any administration.

America, Welcome To The Gulag!

This topic of this posting is everywhere today, I know. But something as significant and anti-American as what the White House posted on its official web site cannot be ignored by a blog called "Always On Watch."

The screen shot (hat tip to Karen of Eastern Right):

The infamous paragraph is below the fold:
There is a lot of disinformation about health insurance reform out there, spanning from control of personal finances to end of life care. These rumors often travel just below the surface via chain emails or through casual conversation. Since we can’t keep track of all of them here at the White House, we’re asking for your help. If you get an email or see something on the web about health insurance reform that seems fishy, send it to flag@whitehouse.gov.
The left believes that dissent is fine and dandy when the left is doing the dissenting. Another standard evidently applies when the right dissents.

And the White House is now promoting snitching, even extending to "casual conversation," because some Americans are wary of BHO's health-care reform. Daring to defy BHO makes targets of any who won't toe his line.

[sarcasm] Charming, simply charming. [sarcasm off]

Two Good Questions To Ask (Bumped)

(This post has been bumped because today is the funeral for the guard killed, and the media keep trumpeting about Von Brunn's political views)

The next time somebody tries to smear conservatism by citing James Von Brunn's attack on the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum, below is a strategy to use in the discussion: (from this essay by Andrew Breitbart):
[1] "Why was it outrageous 'guilt by association' to connect Barack Obama to a domestic terrorist like Bill Ayers and an anti-Semite like [the Rev. Jeremiah A. Wright Jr.], but it's perfectly mainstream to associate all conservatives with this nut job?" asked Jonah Goldberg, best-selling author of "Liberal Fascism" and a nationally syndicated columnist.

[2] Or what about the countless terrorist attacks by unaffiliated Muslim groups or individual jihadists that the media explains away as isolated incidents? Somehow the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) and its media defenders win the day with their collective cry: "Don't rush to judgment!"
Mr. Breitbart concludes his essay with the following paragraph:
Right now, the Democratic-Media Complex is using the single act of a lone lunatic far removed from the political mainstream to split this country on racial grounds in the pursuit of its own political advantage. With the listless Republican Party lacking in any vocal leadership, it will probably succeed.
Don't let the tactics of leftist hypocrisy succeed! Answer back!

Please take time to read Andrew Breitbart's entire essay HERE.

Here's Your Outrage Of The Day

One of them anyway (emphases mine):
Terror inmates may be released in US: intel chief

President Barack Obama's intelligence chief confirmed Thursday that some Guantanamo inmates may be released on US soil and receive assistance to return to society.

"If we are to release them in the United States, we need some sort of assistance for them to start a new life," said National Intelligence Director Dennis Blair at his first press conference....

I'm willing to bet that these released terrorists will get better and less expensive health-care coverage than I do. Heh.

(Hat tip to Infidel Bloggers Alliance)

Meanwhile, we have this NIMBY worry a few days ago in the Washington Post:
An outcry is growing in Alexandria over a prospect no one seems to like: terrorist suspects in the suburbs.

The historic, vibrant community less than 10 miles from the White House markets itself as a "federal friendly zone." But it has turned decidedly unfriendly to news that the Obama administration might move some detainees from their highly controlled military fortress at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, to Alexandria to stand trial at the federal courthouse.

"We would be absolutely opposed to relocating Guantanamo prisoners to Alexandria," Mayor William D. Euille (D) said. "We would do everything in our power to lobby the president, the governor, the Congress and everyone else to stop it. We've had this experience, and it was unpleasant. Let someone else have it."...
How many in that particular community in Alexandria voted for BHO last November 4? But now that their own community might be affected, they are singing a different tune.

From Reliapundit of THE ASTUTE BLOGGERS:

Yesterday at the White House, BHO ate $100-per-pound steaks in springlike temperatures during the ongoing crisis with the Midwest ice storm, even as people all over the Midwest have been without electricity and living in a state of emergency for five days. Hypocrite Al Gore

A little inconvenient truth about Al Gore, from this source, in an article entitled "Al Gore, Oilman":
It was two weeks ago, that Al Gore challenged Americans to “move quickly and boldly to shake off complacency, throw aside old habits and rise, clear-eyed and alert, to the necessity of big changes” by jumping on his alternative energy bandwagon. In a much-hyped speech July 17, the former vice president urged the nation “to commit to producing 100 percent of our electricity from renewable energy and truly clean carbon-free sources within 10 years.”

Gore acknowledged that achieving his ambitious goal would be difficult: “To be sure, reaching the goal of 100 percent renewable and truly clean electricity within 10 years will require us to overcome many obstacles.”

[...]

Ironically, one of the many obstacles to “reaching the goal of 100 percent renewable and truly clean electricity within 10 years” is none other than the wily Al Gore himself.

That’s because even though he claims Americans must work to end their dependence on oil and must stop generating electricity using fossil fuels within a decade or face certain catastrophe, Gore continues to have a financial interest in fossil fuels....

Not Just Satire

(All emphases by Always On Watch)

The story of the hundreds of flyers left all over the campus of George Washington University illustrates the leftist bias in academia and in the media. At first, Young America's Foundation or the group's supporters came under suspicion. YAF's official October 9, 2007 statement about the distribution of the posters is HERE, and includes the following:
...Bridgette Behling, the assistant director of the Student Activities Center at GWU, wrote an email to one of the conservative students urging them to disavow hate speech that may originate from any future Foundation events: “due to the inflammatory nature of today’s events [falsified posters], as a good faith effort on behalf of YAF, it is important that YAF drafts a statement which states that you will not allow hate speech to be a part of any of YAF’s events, literature, written or verbal communication planned for Islamofacism Week. This statement should also include your plan for preventing these things from happening as well as the consequences for these things happening. It is important that we have this document should any further incidents occur as we move forward.”...
Later some additional information came to light. According to this article in the university's newspaper the GW Hatchet:
A group of seven GW students sent an e-mail to The Hatchet late Tuesday night [October 9, 2007] admitting to hanging hundreds of controversial posters around campus early Monday morning.

The students - Adam Kokesh, freshman Yong Kwon, senior Brian Tierney, freshman Ned Goodwin, Maxine Nwigwe, Lara Masri and Amal Rammah - said their motives were misinterpreted. Students for Conservativo-Facism Awareness hung the posters in opposition to Islamo-Fascism Awareness Week, an event being held beginning Oct. 22.

Kokesh, a graduate student and Iraq War veteran, gained celebrity over the past year because of his vocal opposition to the war. Nwigwe and Rammah are also graduate students.

[...]

Islamo-Fascism Awareness Week is being held at GW and sponsored by the Young America's Foundation, a conservative student group. It will feature several speakers - including controversial conservative author David Horowitz - slated to discuss radical Islam.

One-hundred and forty two colleges nationwide will host the event, according to its Web site. Horowitz is organizing the week.

"While the poster, even if taken seriously was not intended to cause any real harm, the systematic and glorified type of racism represented by this event is being imposed upon us from dangerous divisive outside forces" the e-mail said.

In the letter, members of the organization said their intent was to shed light on the week - which they called racist.
When all else fails, playing the race card is the tactic — never mind that adherents to and supporters of Islamo-fasicsm cross race lines.

Miss Beth of the blog Miss Beth's Victory Dance provides the following, which I haven't been able to confirm:
It was a hoax [they claim satire] perpetrated by the Saudi-funded radical islamic front group Muslim Student Association.
If true, no surprise there. Anything to stir things up instead of participating in a reasoned discussion to show that the term "Islamofascism" is a misnomer. Anything to discredit Islamo-fascism Awareness Week, which begins on October 22 at university campuses all over the United States, according to the left sidebar at FrontPage Magazine:

Hot Air has this update about one of the "masterminds" behind the posters distributed at GWU:
As soon as I saw it, the name Adam Kokesh rang a bell. He’s the Marine vet who got in trouble for wearing his uniform to anti-war protests, and who heads up the Iraq Veterans Against the War....
The situation at GWU could have been much worse, I suppose. Just think of the uproar which could have ensued had a group distributed posters of the Danish cartoons satirizing MTP!

School Clubs

Apparently a high school here in Virginia will allow on campus all sort of clubs, but not a pro-life one. Excerpt from this article in the September 29, 2007 Washington Times:
STAFFORD, Va. (AP) — A Colonial Forge High School student has filed a lawsuit against Stafford County's public-school system for refusing to let her start a pro-life club.

[...]

Colonial Forge Principal Lisa Martin denied the request for the club, saying it doesn't relate to the curriculum.

[...]

"That strikes me as a weaselly way to avoid creating a controversial club," George Mason University law professor David Bernstein said....
The law suit was filed in federal court on September 12. The Alliance Defense Fund is representing the student at no cost and is also asking that the school district pay legal fees. Information about this case, from ADF's web site (emphasis mine):
ALEXANDRIA, Va. — Attorneys with the Alliance Defense Fund filed a lawsuit Wednesday after a Virginia school denied official recognition to a student pro-life club but granted official recognition to student groups that focus on other issues.

“Christian and pro-life students cannot be treated as second-class citizens on campus. The student we represent wanted to start a pro-life club at her school, just as other students have been allowed to start their own clubs, yet school officials denied her and not the others,” said ADF Senior Legal Counsel David Cortman. “Under the law, school officials cannot discriminate on the basis of an arbitrary decision about the worthiness of the club’s subject matter.”

The student, who attends Colonial Forge High School, wanted to start a pro-life student club on campus and applied for her club to become officially recognized by the school. Officially recognized student clubs enjoy privileges such as access to the school newspaper, bulletin boards, and the public announcement system, as well as being able to participate in student activities programs and club fairs.

Stafford County School officials denied the student’s application, stating that her pro-life club “does not meet the standard of a direct curricular link.” But no policy exists that requires clubs to be curriculum-related, nor are there any guidelines that govern how such a determination is made.

The Stafford County School granted official recognition to other student groups that do not appear to have a “direct curricular link” on campuses within its district, including Young Democrats, Students Against Destructive Decisions, and Key Club.

“Because of the lack of a clear policy outlining how student clubs are granted official recognition, certain school and district officials have been given unaccountable discretion to determine which clubs are approved and which are not,” Cortman explained. “Their denial of this pro-life student club is inconsistent and unconstitutional.”...
For what it's worth, I predict that the case may never reach court. Typically, schools will do almost anything to avoid the legal loop. From the article in the Washington Times article:
...Schools spokeswoman Valerie Cottongim said school officials do not comment on pending litigation.

Stafford County School Board chairman Robert Belman also declined to comment because the entire board has not discussed the matter. He said he expects the board to take up the issue soon in a closed meeting....
Pity that the meeting will not be an open one. If it were, taxpayers would find out just how many weasels sit on the school board.

Dissonance In The Senate (Updated With Information From Ogre)

Looks as if some Senators are worried about backlash from their constituents. Excerpt from this May 21, 2007 article in the Washington Times:
...Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid this weekend said he will insist that the bill's guest-worker provision be slashed from 400,000 per year down to 100,000 per year.

"I don't want a program that is a funnel for cheap labor," Mr. Reid, Nevada Democrat, said, according to the Reno (Nev.) Gazette-Journal. Mr. Reid said the 400,000 number "will not remain in the bill."...
According to the article, fewer than twenty Senators will be supporting the bill when it hits the Senate floor today because
the deal was written in secret by a dozen senators and the Bush administration [and] wasn't even finalized until yesterday and still hasn't reached many Senate offices.
One wonders if some of the reticence found in the recent survey is the result of voters' having flooded Capitol Hill with objections to the bill.

Read the entire article from the Washington Times. The grapevine here says that the voters' communiques the past several days have been running overwhelmingly against the bill.

According to Ogre's analysis of the bill, which he dubs "the Kennedy-StupidMorons Immigration Bill":
...I've heard lots about what's in the bill. I've heard nothing good at ALL about the bill. But I decided to try and do what the Senators won't -- I wanted to read the entire bill. So if you don't want to read the whole 790 pages, I'll attempt to provide the cliff notes version here....

[...]

If this bill passes, and I'm not just blowing smoke here, say goodbye to America -- at least as a free country and a representative republic.

If this passes, you will be able to tell your grandchildren that you were able to witness the fall of America. We had a good run, but I guess this is it.
Ogre's analysis is a long read, but worth your time.
