Recent Graphics In Time Magazine

Perhaps you've already seen the August 30, 2010 cover of Time Magazine:

Abridged cover article HERE.

But have you seen the other graphic in the August 30, 2010 print-edition of Time Magazine?

What does this graphic say to you?

Note how the depiction of the Twin Towers.

This graphic appeared on the final page of the August 30, 2010 print-edition of Time Magazine, attached to the article "Sacred Spaces" by Nancy Gibbs.

Read about Nancy Gibbs HERE, HERE (NewsBusters and HERE (Wikipedia).

So, here we are, nearly nine years after 9/11. We're witnessing the remaking of 9/11 in the image of Islam and the desecration of each one murdered in the Twin Towers by Islamic supremacists.

Note to visitors: Before you go, please watch the video in the post below his one. Thanks!

With a hat tip to Reliapundit of THE ASTUTE BLOGGERS, the colorized version of a classic cartoon:

No television network would show this cartoon today for fear of a cartoonifada. In addition to the cartoon's ridiculing of jihad, Porky Pig on Islamic soil is haram!

Frustration!

While Verizon had me knocked offline yesterday and the day before, I spent a lot of time updating my record keeping, specifically, logging into Quicken medical bills and the like.

Believe me, keeping track of Mr. AOW's medical bills and medical miles is a Herculean task.

When I attempted to back up the financial data, no dice! Neither of my DVD/CD rewritable-drives would back up the information! I did print hard copies, just in case the entire Quicken program crashes.

Later today, after The Gathering Storm Radio Show, I'll haul in my desktop tower to a local repair shop. Being without that computer tower will consign me completely to my laptop, which hasn't been running well at all of late. Browser crashes like you wouldn't believe!

I won't fall completely silent here. I hope.

And I do have a few posts queued up to auto post.

But I may not be around as much as usual.

Please stand by.

Note to any of my students reading this post: Don't get your hopes up that I won't be ready for classes in September. I did all my start-up prep last week. **wink**

Who Wrote Obama's Cairo Speech?

(With a hat tip to Infidel Bloggers Alliance)

Remember Obama's Cairo speech, delivered in June of 2009? In that speech, Obama stated:

I have come here to seek a new beginning between the United States and Muslims around the world; one based upon mutual interest and mutual respect; and one based upon the truth that America and Islam are not exclusive, and need not be in competition....

Now comes this information about the source of that speech:

The Shoebat Foundation has obtained a shocking audio recording of Rauf's own voice boasting in Arabic that Obama’s historic speech in Cairo was provided by the Imam's work with the Cordova Initiative in what the Imam called “The Blue Print” which, according to him, was the solution to the Islamic-American divide. Rauf claimed that Chapter 6 of the Imam’s work engineered by the Cordova Initiative was the construct for the entire speech...

In the recording dated February 5th, 2010 Rauf boasted that:
“We have to look at it [as] how to engineer solutions. At the Cordova Initiative we think of ourselves as an engineering shop. Yes. We have an analytical approach. Our work has been that. IN THE BOOK CHAPTER 6, I WROTE ABOUT THIS BLUE PRINT as to WHAT HAS TO BE DONE BY THE U.S. GOVERNMENT, what has to be done by the Jewish community, what has to be done by the Christian community, what has to be done by the Muslim community, what has to be done by educators, what has to be done by the media. For example, IN MY BOOK IN THE ARABIC VERSION page 293, what did I write? WHAT ARE THE THINGS THAT THE UNITED STATES NEEDS TO DO. IF YOU EXAMINE THIS CHAPTER YOU WILL FIND THAT THE OBAMA SPEECH IN CAIRO WAS ALL TAKEN FROM THIS SECTION [Section 6]....”
The story was even collaborated in a written article in an interview with Hani Al-Waziri of Egypt. The clue was revealed while Rauf was answering a question regarding President Barack Obama’s speech in which Rauf replied:
“The speech was wonderful and wise in his choice of words, the Prime Minister of Malaysia after the speech disclosed to me that it is now easy for any president of a Muslim country to establish good relations with America, and I AM NOT GOING TO HIDE FROM YOU THAT ONE OF THOSE WHO PARTICIPATED IN WRITING THE SPEECH, TRANSFERRED ENTIRE PARTS OF MY BOOK ‘A NEW VISION FOR MUSLIMS AND THE WEST’, which he referred to U.S. interests being compatible with top interests of the Muslim world”.

Rauf did not disclose the name of this speechwriter that included Rauf’s work in president Obama’s historic address to the Muslim world. It is crucial to note that the Arabic version of Feisal Abdul Rauf’s book was published in Malaysia titled “A CALL TO PRAYER, FROM THE WORLD TRADE CENTER RUBBLE: ISLAMIC DAWA (SUMMONS TO ISLAM) IN THE HEART OF AMERICA POST-9/11."
Read the entire article HERE. Please take the time to read the entire article.

Is Imam Rauf merely bragging? Possibly. Moslems have been known to lie and to take credit for things they haven't really done.

But what if Imam Rauf isn't bragging? That possibility should make every American sit back and ask, "Where do the loyalties of President Obama lie?"

Chapter Six of Imam Rauf's book What's Right With Islam is entitled "A New Vision for Muslims and the West," and the book is available in my local library. I've just put a reserve on the book. You know what I'm going to do once I have the book in hand: go straight to Chapter Six and compare the text thereof with the text of Obama's Cairo speech!

Obama's Repeated Vacations

Hat tip to Will, at whose site I found the following graphic:

And 2010 hasn't yet ended.

How many vacations do the Obamas need? Sheesh.

Well, at least while Obama is on vacation, perhaps we won't have to hear from him as Scolder-In-Chief. I, for one, am getting mighty weary of the tone he often uses when he speaks. He is supposed to be our elected public servant.

Now, about our national debt (also from Will's site):

What Is Ramadan?

Ramadan 2010 began on or around August 11 and will end on or about September 10. Muslims, ever contentious about nearly every matter, even disagree among themselves as to when Ramadan should begin.

What does Ramadan really celebrate, particularly Eid ul-Fitr, which marks the end of Ramadan? If one understands the history of Islam and, especially, that of Ramadan, one will come to understand that such a commemoration, including iftar dinners at the White House, should be unacceptable to all those who oppose Islamic supremacism.

Ramadan involves more than prayers, fasting, and the giving of alms — all of which are part of the month long observance but which are also the outward signs of another message. By literal definition, of course, Ramadan commemorates Allah's "revealing" the Qur'an to Muhammad. But history clearly indicates that the "revelations" from Allah to Muhammad began around 610, some fourteen years earlier than 624.

Those earlier passages, sometimes referred to as the Meccan verses, are the oft-quoted peaceful verses in the Koran. Contrary to what one might expect, however, the last day of Ramadan does not celebrate the actual date of the earliest peaceful "revelations" of Allah to Muhammad but rather the Battle of Badr, the first significant military victory by the forces of Muhammad.
-------------
The Battle of Badr of March 17, 624, is one of the few military conflicts specifically mentioned in the Qur'an and holds a great deal of significance in Islam. Eid ul-Fitr, the final portion of Ramadan, has as its origin the aforementioned battle. Furthermore and most importantly, this battle marked the turning point for Islam, both politically and ideologically.

Having earlier fled to Medina along with followers who accepted him as their prophet whereas most of the tribes of Mecca did not, early on that morning in 624 Muhammad got word that a rich Quraish caravan from Syria was returning to Mecca. He therefore assembled the largest army he had ever been able to muster, some 300 men, with the original intent of raiding the caravan. After his men successfully overtook the caravan and brought back the booty, Muhammad then conveniently received a new "revelation" from Allah — a "revelation" which not only included rejoicing in having captured an enemy's caravan but which also called "proved" that Muhammad had been preaching the true way all along. Fulfilling Destiny, Muhammad and his forces proceeded to trounce the Quraish as punishment for having earlier rejected the prophet's teachings. From this source:
In the name of Allah, the Beneficient, the Merciful.

The battle of Badr was the most important among the Islamic battles of Destiny. For the first time the followers of the new faith were put into a serious test. Had victory been the lot of the pagan army while the Islamic Forces were still at the beginning of their developments, the faith of Islam could have come to an end.

No one was aware of the importance of the outcome of the Battle as the Prophet (S.A.W.) himself. We might read the depth of his anxiety in his prayer before the beginning of the Battle when he stood up supplicating his Lord:
God this is Quraish. It has come with all its arrogance and boastfulness, trying to discredit Thy Apostle. God, I ask Thee to humiliate them tomorrow. God, if this Muslim band will perish today, Thou shall not be worshipped.
[...]

This battle laid the foundation of the Islamic State...
In other words, victory at the Battle of Badr proved to Muhammad and his adherents that Islam should from that time forth take on a militant aspect because such is the will of Allah. From the day of the Battle of Badr on, the tone of the verses in the Qur'an changed. These more recent "revelations," sometimes referred to as the Medinan verses, abrogated the earlier and peaceful Meccan ones. Because preaching and tolerance had not brought Muhammad the following which he needed in order to establish himself and Islam as political forces to be reckoned with, Allah, via a military victory, showed the prophet a more effective way to spread Islam. Therefore, Muhammad's victory at the Battle of Badr symbolizes both the way to bring about the will of Allah and the will of Allah itself.

In sum, Ramadan is, in and of itself, a statement advocating submission to Islam and to the will of Allah. Ah, the dhimmitude and submission of all Western leaders when they send Ramadan greetings to the Islamic world!

Harry Reid Opposes The Ground Zero Mosque?

Worried about November, of course.

Accountability has a way of coming around, sooner or later.

From Weasel Zippers, citing Associated Press:
The Senate’s top Democrat says a mosque should not be built near the site of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.

Sen. Harry Reid of Nevada on Monday became the highest profile Democrat to break with President Barack Obama, who on Friday backed the right for the developers to build a mosque near ground zero.

In a statement, Reid said the first amendment protects freedom of religion and he respects that, but the mosque should be built somewhere else.
Obama has become political poison. He can backpedal ("clarify") all he wants about the Ground Zero Mosque statement made at the White House Ramadan dinner. Democrats up for re-election this November know that Obama's statement hurts their chances for holding on to their seats in Congress.

How is Obama going to handle himself as his cohorts desert a sinking ship?

And didn't he imply in his Ramadan speech, replete with lies delivered in his usual preachy and scolding manner, that opposing the Ground Zero Mosque is unconstitutional and un-American?

I admit my confusion about one matter: Obama must have known that the statement he was making at the White House Ramadan dinner would have negative effects, and his remarks were scripted as well. Why, then, did he say what he said? Please weigh in, in the comments section below.

Obama's Lies About Islam And American History

(With a hat tip to Infidel Bloggers Alliance)

Do Americans know enough of their own nation's heritage and history to have picked up on Obama's lie that Thomas Jefferson held the first iftar dinner at the White House?

Or do Americans suck down Obama's lying swill (aka revisionist history) and believe it because Obama is a slick package and looks good in a well-tailored suit?

From Ace of Spades:

A snippet of his speech that deserves to be singled out for special scorn.
Obama said that Ramadan is a reminder that Islam has always been part of America.

"The first Muslim ambassador to the United States, from Tunisia, was hosted by President Jefferson, who arranged a sunset dinner for his guest because it was Ramadan [,] making it the first known iftar at the White House, more than 200 years ago."
How very disingenuous. We have here a fact presented not merely out of context, but so deceitfully as to be a laughable fraud.

First of all, the term 'a part of America' needs some thoughtful defining. I think we can mostly agree that the implication is that the mere act of feting the Tunisian envoy during his diplomatic mission to the US is some sort of general inclusion of Islam into the American experience at that early date.

How? Merely through his temporary presence in our country? Even though we were in conflict with his state at the time?

[...]

[Obama said:] "Islam has always been a part of America's story."

Indeed!
That would be the same Treaty of Tripoli that was essentially a protection racket against the United States, requiring that tribute be paid to avoid being the victim of piracy.

That would be the same John Adams who reluctantly figured that bribing the pirates of Barbary was cheaper than military engagement (out of an understanding that the political will and money for creating the necessary naval force was out of reach for the time being).

And that would be the same Thomas Jefferson who, with his great knowledge and understanding of the Koran, reversed our course and decided that military engagement against the various Muslim states engaged in piracy was the only sensible way to proceed.
And then bombarded their coastline, invaded them, and persuaded them to find a new hobby....
Read the entire essay at Ace of Spades HERE.

Maybe I've missed it, but I have yet to hear the mainstream media call Obama out on his misrepresentation of the fact about Thomas Jefferson and his dealings with Moslems.

And, as I queried at the beginning of this post, how many Americans actually believe Obama's lies about Islam and American history? This most recent lie isn't the only one. Not by a long shot.

Obama Endorses The Ground Zero Mosque

Are any of my regular readers surprised by Obama's endorsement? I'm not!

Obama simply waited until this year's White House Ramadan dinner on August 13 to offer his support of building the towering Cordoba House which, if built, will overlook the site where 3000 Americans were murdered by Islamic terrorists on 9/11. The symbolism of the timing of Obama's announcement of support resonates with the ummah, ever in search of the elusive will of Allah!

From MSNBC:
It was the president's first public remarks about the mosque controversy. The White House previously called the matter solely a local one.
The President of the United States is advocating sacrilege at Ground Zero! From this recent column by Charles Krauthammer:
A place is made sacred by a widespread belief that it was visited by the miraculous or the transcendent (Lourdes, the Temple Mount), by the presence there once of great nobility and sacrifice (Gettysburg), or by the blood of martyrs and the indescribable suffering of the innocent (Auschwitz).

When we speak of Ground Zero as hallowed ground, what we mean is that it belongs to those who suffered and died there -- and that such ownership obliges us, the living, to preserve the dignity and memory of the place, never allowing it to be forgotten, trivialized or misappropriated.

That's why Disney's 1993 proposal to build an American history theme park near Manassas Battlefield was defeated by a broad coalition that feared vulgarization of the Civil War (and that was wiser than me; at the time I obtusely saw little harm in the venture). It's why the commercial viewing tower built right on the border of Gettysburg was taken down by the Park Service. It's why, while no one objects to Japanese cultural centers, the idea of putting one up at Pearl Harbor would be offensive.

And why Pope John Paul II ordered the Carmelite nuns to leave the convent they had established at Auschwitz. He was in no way devaluing their heartfelt mission to pray for the souls of the dead. He was teaching them a lesson in respect: This is not your place; it belongs to others. However pure your voice, better to let silence reign.

[...]

Location matters. Especially this location. Ground Zero is the site of the greatest mass murder in American history -- perpetrated by Muslims of a particular Islamist orthodoxy in whose cause they died and in whose name they killed.

[...]

America is a free country where you can build whatever you want -- but not anywhere. That's why we have zoning laws. No liquor store near a school, no strip malls where they offend local sensibilities, and, if your house doesn't meet community architectural codes, you cannot build at all.

These restrictions are for reasons of aesthetics. Others are for more profound reasons of common decency and respect for the sacred. No commercial tower over Gettysburg, no convent at Auschwitz -- and no mosque at Ground Zero...
Not only is Obama advocating sacrilege at Ground Zero. He is advocating Islamic supremacism under the guise of religious freedom.

I don't for a moment believe that Obama doesn't know what he's doing. He's been "reaching out" to Moslems since the moment he took office. From this year's sycophantic official White House statement about Ramadan:
These rituals remind us of the principles that we hold in common, and Islam’s role in advancing justice, progress, tolerance, and the dignity of all human beings. Ramadan is a celebration of a faith known for great diversity and racial equality. And here in the United States, Ramadan is a reminder that Islam has always been part of America and that American Muslims have made extraordinary contributions to our country.

[...]

May God’s peace be upon you.
Since when has Islam "always been part of America"? Were Moslems at Jamestown or aboard the Mayflower? As Dr. Paul Williams recently stated in one of his essays:
Sorry, Mr. Obama, but there were no Muslims among the passengers on the Mayflower or the settlers at Jamestown. Muslims were conspicuously absent from the ranks of George Washington’s Army of the Revolution and played no role in the creation of the American republic – - save for the fact that the new country’s first declaration of war was against the forces of Islam in the form of the Barbary pirates.
Read the entire essay HERE.

Furthermore, that closing sentence from this year's White House statement on Ramadan is very close to ṣalawāt:
a phrase that practising Muslims often say after saying (or hearing) the name of a prophet of Islam.
Caliphate-yearning and shari'a-desirous Muslims have stated in the past that they're going to use America's freedoms to take down our nation. And I have to hand it to them: they're strategy is succeeding, with even the President of the United States as one of their means of doing so.

I ask you this: Two years ago, could you even have imagined that anyone would support building a mosque to overlook the sacred soil of Ground Zero?

I also ask you this: Can you this day imagine that the mosque won't be built, never mind the outcries against doing so?

Dhimmitude and political correctness have overtaken America. How far we have fallen!

Note to readers: My next post will delineate the true meaning of Ramadan.

Your Weekend Graphic And Video

Just how many mosques do Moslems in New York City need, anyway? Information below the fold.

From this source:
“New York City has more than 100 mosques, compared with 10 in 1970, and more than 800,000 of its 8.21 million residents are Muslims, said Philip Banks III,” chief of the NYPD Community Affairs Bureau.

Here are some numbers on the Muslim Community in New York City, taken between 1998 and 1999: 28 mosques in Queens, 27 in Brooklyn, 20 in the Bronx, 17 in Manhattan and eight in Staten Island; however, all participants said they thought they had underestimated the number of mosques, because worshippers often set up small mosques in their apartments that are not visible from the street.
Meanwhile, for the larger Jewish population of New York City
There are actually 77 synagogues, but this has been three centuries in the making!
More statistics at Infidel Bloggers Alliance in this edgy post.

What is a mosque, really? Please watch the following:

The Ground Zero Mosque's Imam

(Hat tip to Infidel Bloggers Alliance)

From Walid Shoebat. who is fluent in Arabic:

Image Just who is ‘moderate’ Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf? He’s no moderate at all. He’s the funder of the controversial Ground Zero Mosque in New York and a financier of the Turkish Flotilla, along with the Turkish government that funded the terrorist group IHH which has ties to al Qaida and Hamas in Gaza.

What’s more, Iman Rauf is calling for a worldwide return to the most radical form of Islam in history, turning the hands of time back to an era when Muslims ruled much of the known world. See eye-opening article below that was translated by Walid.

The following is a translation of an Arabic language interview conducted by Iman Rauf that should put shivers up your spine as to what the world will look like if he gets his way: Islamic world domination, death and enslavement to anyone who gets in his way.

Read for yourself his views and his desire as translated verbatim from the Arabic language. Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf’s goal is to change the secular laws in the current Muslim world to reflect the original Islamic state established in Arabia in Medina and here is another caveat—this is not only restricted for the Muslim World, but for the U.S. as well. His view laments the fall of the Ottoman Empire and the establishment of secular laws after its fall.

Separation of Religion From State

(Translated verbatim, From his interview on Hadielislam.com)
Question: What does it mean to separate religion from state in Islam?

Abdul Rauf: The general understating in the west is that religious institutions have no influence in decision making in the state. In Europe religion is weak while in the United States the majority is religious and believe in God. With this, the understanding of the term “separation of religion from state” is also to separate the arm of the government from pressuring religious freedoms. So in a general sense they respect religious freedoms. In America the state does not interfere in religious regulations, their details, construction or how they are managed.

What is happing in the Muslim world after the fall of the Ottoman Empire and the establishment of the secular state, that the traditional relationship between state and religious institutions were subject to a separation, which resulted in a reaction that generated Islamic movements wanting to erect an Islamic state in the Islamic world. So if we watch history that after Rashidun Caliphate (Rightly Guided Caliphate) there was a form of separation between government and religious institutions that was represented by [Muslim] jurisprudence and since the Muslims on a personal level are required to follow the prophet (peace be upon him) on all aspects of life and conduct as permissible through a societal level as well. For that, we collectively believe that the state that was erected by the prophet in Medina was the ideal model for an Islamic state. The challenge today in the Islamic world is how do we accomplish this in our current era.

Question: Many of the political Jihadist Islamic movements are talking about an Islamic Caliphate based on the prophet’s approach. Can we accomplish this today?

Abdul Rauf: The challenge I was referring to is this; how do we call for the principles and standards that the prophet (peace be upon him) used to build the Islamic state in Medina. The challenge we have today is how do we accomplish this while keeping the prophet’s methodology in our current changing times. This challenge was an issue that the scholars and Caliphs had to face throughout the Islamic history, which resulted in the creation of several Islamic schools of thought with multiple views that are viewed equally.

So the question in our era throughout my discussions with contemporary Muslim theologians that an Islamic state can be established in more than just in a single form or mold; it can be established through a kingdom or a democracy. The important issue is to establish the general fundamentals of [Islamic] Shariah that are required to govern. It is known that there are sets of standards that are accepted by [Muslim] scholars to organize the relationships between government and the governed.

Question: So we understand that separation of religion from state, that is, it depends on the Muslim governors that so long they were spreading Islam and justice… but when the rulers are ruling under traditional laws contrary to Islamic laws, what then should the Islamic institutions do?

Abdul Rauf: A time after the prophet (peace be upon him) arose certain new conditions that required the governors to institute new laws so long they do not conflict with the Quran and the Sunna that were Shariah compliant as such followed in traditional customs. So in our modern era, governments that want to ensure the new laws as to not contradict Shariah rules—so they create institutions to ensure Islamic law and remove any that contradict with Shariah.

So we advise that when there is a problem in the relationship between state and religious institutions in the form of the question you just asked, that people need to use peaceful means to advise the governors and government institutions and use peaceful means that are available to send their message out to the masses.

And we also suggest to the governors and political institutions to consult [Muslim] religious institutions and [Muslim] personalities in the field as to assure their decision making to reflect the spirit of Shariah.

Question: No doubt that there are disastrous results if the Islamic world kept going under the principles that are used with religious issues and state, but what do we do on a personal level while in the midst of this low class system that is established in our Muslim states?

Abdul Rauf: First and foremost, we need to understand what Shariah requires from us. Second, we need to be a part of a larger group that is capable to give advise [to the government] as is done by lobbies in the West. Thirdly: We become an institutional group to provide benevolent needs in the society.

Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf is the chief executive of the American Society for Muslim Advancement.

Update On Mr. AOW: Wonderful News! At Last!

After being off his feet for nearly a year following a plum-sized brain hemorrhage on September 15, 2009, and after all that time of acute and sub-acute physical therapy (still ongoing), Mr. AOW is up and walking with a quad cane!

Mr. AOW cannot yet walk without physical and tactile cues from me or the therapists. The walking consists of halting steps, and he tires easily. But my husband is walking at last!

I have to practice with him every day for at least the next three weeks so that he can further develop the muscle memory required for walking. Daily practice is critical!

My getting Mr. AOW ready to walk takes a lot of time: $100 hemisling on the left arm, $1600 AFO brace on the left leg (Pictured left. What a job getting that thing inside a shoe and all strapped up!), Ritalin, Baclofen, and Starbuck's caffeine aboard so that he can be alert enough to follow the necessary procedure. Also, I have to enlist a "safety net," meaning that another person has to be present so as to have the wheelchair behind Mr. AOW in case he starts to topple over. His sense of balance isn't perfect.

Oh, and another bit of good news....Mr. AOW has had one full week of dry nights! The washing machine is finally getting a rest. I think that the day will soon come that Mr. AOW can stop having to sleep in that hospital bed in the living room.

Blogging, including making blog rounds, is taking a back seat right now, but I will continue to post when I find time and (Gasp!) tweet news stories and commentaries. I will also continue to host The Gathering Storm Radio Show every Friday.

Shopping Adventures With Mr. AOW

(For any readers who may not already know, Mr. AOW had a brain hemorrhage on September 15, 2009. Previous posts about Mr. AOW's stroke and his struggle to recover are HERE)

Every Monday after the neuro-therapy session, I have taken Mr. AOW grocery shopping in one of our newest and biggest grocery stores near our home. Mr. AOW loves to go shopping in this particular grocery store because he gets to use an electric shopping cart much like the one pictured in this post. I transfer Mr. AOW from the car into the transport chair, a small wheelchair I carry in the trunk of my Hyundai Elantra, push him into the store, then tranfer him into the electric shopping cart. Such carts have hand controls, and even though Mr. AOW has the use of only his right hand, with all his background in riding motorcyles, he can operate the cart just fine.

Most of the time.

The problem? Left neglect:

Neglect is a syndrome in which the patient fails to recognize one side of the body and the environmental space surrounding this side of the body...Neglect is considered a deficit in directed attention....
I first began taking Mr. AOW on those Monday shopping trips on July 19. The first time, I stayed with him all the time and prevent him from taking out shopping displays on his left side. I'm ever the teacher, I suppose, and I've done enough research to know that left neglect will improve over time with sufficient practice. Furthermore, if Mr. AOW is ever going to be able to operate an electric wheelchair with safety, the issue of his left neglect has to be minimal.

In all honesty, my having to correct Mr. AOW before he made any driving errors occurred only rarely during that first shopping trip on July 19, so on the second shopping trip a week later, I let him begin shopping on his own while I took the transport chair back to the car. When I returned to the store to chaperone Mr. AOW's driving, I heard a big clatter: Mr. AOW had taken out the weighing scale in the produce department. Store personnel came running, shouting, "Are you hurt, sir?" You see, this particular store is located in an elite area where many lawyers live and shop, and the customer can do no wrong. Therefore, there are no recriminations when Mr. AOW makes a mistake with his driving.

On our third shopping trip on August 2, we had quite an adventure! This time, Mr. AOW insisted that I transfer him to the electric shopping cart in the foyer of the store, thus requiring him to go through the store's doors on his own while I took the transport chair back to the car. When I returned to the store, what did I see? All the hand baskets sitting on the left side of the door were toppled over, and Mr. AOW was nowhere to be seen; he had hit and run. I had to smile, particularly as I heard the store's loud speaker blare, "Service personnel to the front door."

The August 2 shopping trip was a big shop, and we had the basket at the front of the electric shopping cart filled to capacity – and then some. As we were getting ready to head for check-out, I noticed a pained expression on Mr. AOW's face. "Do you have to go to the bathroom?" I asked. He nodded, and I nearly had a meltdown. How would he get that electric shopping cart into the restroom?

We headed to the restroom area. Mr. AOW had to navigate rows and rows of wine bottles. I cringed, but he made it without incident and reached the restrooms. No way to get that cart into the bathrooms!

I looked across the hall and spotted the employees' lounge. More importantly, I saw a rolling office chair – one without arm rests. I said a quick prayer that Mr. AOW's sense of balance would be good enough for him to stay on that chair while I rolled it into the bathroom.

We made it! Oh, it was dicey. Mr. AOW had to pull forward with his right leg while I pulled his useless left leg forward. But we made it and with time to spare!

At that point, solicitous store personnel were hovering around to see if they could help and to make sure that Mr. AOW didn't get hurt. Meanwhile, I was concerned about another matter. How were we going to get the electric shopping cart dislodged from the restroom area? That cart was wedged in!

I boarded the cart, which won't operate unless someone is seated therein, and tried to move it. Unfortunately, I know only two speeds for that cart: full throttle or stop.

Of necessity, I had to back up the cart to get it back into the shopping area of the store. "Beep, beep, beep!" went the loud back-up alarm. But I couldn't go very far. I slammed into the water fountain, setting off a geyser of water. I'd go forward and slam into the wall. Back again, "Beep, beep, beep!" and another water geyser. More store personnel hovering, none of whom knew how to drive the cart. Never mind that the store was freezing cold, I was sweating bullets by now!

Finally, I gave up and retrieved Mr. AOW from the rest room, with him pulling forward with his right leg and me pulling forward his left leg. I transferred him back into the electric shopping cart. He maneuvered the cart out of the restroom area with no trouble at all! Back we went through the rows of wine bottles and to the check-out stand.

Our fourth foray to the same grocery store is scheduled for Monday, August 9. I'm sure that the store personnel will be pleased to see us again.

Sidebar Housekeeping

Recently, I've been sorting out and cleaning up the "ADDITIONAL READING" section.

Ages have passed since I've done any major updating of the sidebar!

If you are regular reader here at Always On Watch and would like your link posted (I'm sure that I've inadvertently overlooked someone!), please leave me a note in the comments section so that I can continue with my update of the sidebar. Also, if you note any errors in the links I've been tinkering with, let me know.

Obama's "Mongrel" Comment

I cringed when I first saw this video as what I heard hearkens back to something I never want to see or hear again:

Donald Douglas of American Power makes the following interesting point about Obama's term "mongrel," and the point made explains why I, one born in the South before the Civil Rights Movement, reacted as I did when I heard Obama refer to "mongrel":
D.W. Griffith’s 1915 motion picture The Birth of a Nation — originally titled The Clansman — a film which presented a re-writing of the actual history of post Civil War Reconstruction by the same Confederate traitors aginst whom the war had to be fought. It portrayed African-Americans in the post-Civil War South as depraved, lascivious beasts whose rampant lawlessness and alleged domination of the South — through military force and control of the state legislatures — threatened to destroy “Southern civilization” and “mongrelize the races”. The film asserts that this could only be stopped by the glorified lynchings and reign of terror carried out by the “honorable” new, secret order of the “chivalrous” Knights of the Ku Klux Klan.

<…>

In most of the Northern cities where the The Birth of a Nation was scheduled to be shown, political fights exploded, and some small riots did occur in Philadelphia and elsewhere where the film was shown. The NAACP and others attempted to seek either a banning of the film completely, or to force the editing-out of the most egregious racist scenes. For the most part, those attempts were futile. Endless hearings were held before mayors, state legislatures, city councils, and state and city censorship boards across the country. The Illinois legislature voted 111-2 to ban the showing in that state, but eventually lost on judicial appeals filed by the film’s promoters.

Those hearings became platforms for the pro-Griffith lobby to pronounce the alleged virtues of eugenics. In New York City, Griffith’s lawyer Martin W. Littleton told Mayor Mitchell that the film was a protest against the mongrel mixture of black and white.”
Donald Douglas of American Power comments:
It is disgusting and putrid that a President of the United States bring this kind of filth language into the public discourse when our nation has moved so far past it. Laura Ingraham is correct, Obama is not “post-racial” — he is the most racial and divisive President we have ever had.
Is Obama deliberately trying to divide America along racial lines?

Last week, I posted the above at Infidel Bloggers Alliance. Note these comments from that thread:

I am the father of interracial children. And, I know that I would never refer to my children as mongrels.

Just as bothersome, or more so, is they way he says "white America" and then "we know more about it", making a distintion between the races.

When was the last time we heard a President use the term White America?

It's an interesting choice as to whether in his soul this represents a mistake (was he that nervous on the VIEW?) ..or a revelation of his inner self....

I submit that we're seeing the "revelation" of Obama's inner self, his racist core. What is your view?

CAIR's "Debate" Tactics

Video of Nihad Awad, founder and executive director of CAIR, below the fold. You must watch this!

Now, why don't any of these news Fox News Channel anchors and pundits, including even Bill O'Reilly, call Nihad Awad's hand on THIS INFORMATION about his background, including but not limited to the quotation below?
“I am a supporter of the Hamas movement.”
Nihad Awad is quite the spokesperson to advocate the Ground Zero Mosque, huh?

Read more about Nihad Awad HERE at The Investigative Project On Terrorism.

Beware Of Automatic Updates!

Yesterday, I got up bright and early, accomplished a few tasks on my desktop in my upstairs office, then moved downstairs to my laptop. I was planning to spend several hours blogging before my friend V came over to help me give Mr. AOW his weekly shower.

Alas! My laptop, from which I do most of my blogging, was misbehaving in unacceptable ways never seen before. For three full hours, my frustration level mounted and escalated to the point that I nearly took my laptop and tossed it into the trashcan.
---------
After many screams and one outright tantrum (I was tired of that pair of sunglasses anyway), I managed to control my temper and the meltdown I was having well enough to email Warren, my webmaster, to see if there might be any hope of salvaging my gone-crazy laptop. He got back to me last night after his workday ended.

The culprit behind the problems I was having was Microsoft automatic updates for Windows XP – updates no longer sent by Microsoft as of who knows when. Apparently, the port for Windows XP updates had been hacked!

I spent the rest of the evening letting both machines run virus scans.

Technology is wonderful when it works properly. When it doesn't, words do not exist to describe the resulting frustration.

The Dualism Of Islam

Explains why we keep hearing the phrase "the religion of peace":

As the above video shows, using Western logic to understand Islam is a serious fallacy. In my view, therein lies the West's most significant philosophical and ideological error in the West's dealings with Islam.
